More than 70 Applications for Broadband Accessibility Grant Program

The Broadband Accessibility Grant applications closed earlier this month. TNECD received more than 70 applications totaling a grant request of $66 million. In total, $10 million in grants will be provided in the first round of grants. Public comments regarding the applications are being accepted on TNECD’s broadband website until December 15, 2017.

Check Out the New Marketing Assistance Program County Videos and Websites

TNECD is proud to roll out the latest round of communities who participated in our Marketing Assistance Program (MAP). MAP offers local communities the marketing materials needed to help attract new businesses, including an up-to-date website complete with content, video and photography specific to each community. At no cost to the local communities, MAP has now helped more than 20 Tennessee counties with the marketing deliverables they need to compete for economic development projects.

Gov. Haslam On How Trade with China Plays Key Role in Tennessee Economy

CGTV recently caught up with Gov. Bill Haslam to discuss the growing importance of trade with China, which accounts for nearly 8 percent of Tennessee’s GDP. China also ranks among the top 10 countries for foreign direct investment in Tennessee.

Philip Trauernicht Memorial Scholarship for Rural Leaders

The UT Center for Industrial Services is currently accepting applications for the Philip Trauernicht Memorial Scholarship for Rural Leaders. This scholarship honors the legacy of Philip Trauernicht, a true servant leader who spent three decades dedicating his career to economic and community development throughout Tennessee. The Philip Trauernicht scholarship enhances the development of rural leadership through scholarship support to the Tennessee Basic Economic Development Course (TBEDC), scheduled for May 7-10, 2018 in Nashville.
